Country Home and Southern Living are two best-selling home and lifestyle magazines. Readers adore these magazines for their surplus of inspiration. I had the fun opportunity to design social media ads promoting their 2022 holiday covers.
I wanted to capture the excitement and curiosity of "what's inside?" so I burst the magazines open to reveal a hidden world of cute holiday trinkets. The illustrations pull patterns and color schemes from holiday decor in the magazines.
Before this project, I had never used the 3D features in After Effects. I wanted the magazine worlds to have the depth that 3D offers though, so I used this opportunity to learn. The simplicity of the 3D animation and limited color scheme allowed the magazine to be the focus of the ad.
